The Future Sound of Yoga
The Future Sound of Yoga is a sensory experience involving music and movement. The movements are a combination of traditional yoga poses and freeform dance. A live DJ creates the soundtrack, which is drawn from electronic dance music (e.g. Ambient, Trip Hop, Progressive, Tech House) and atmospheric band/artist albums (e.g. Bjork, Sigur Ros, Radiohead). The album covers below show some of the music we have used in past events.
Rather than strict instruction or striving to achieve complex yoga poses, we are more about switching off the mind, connecting with the body and letting go. The yoga unlocks the body; the music energises the room and brings the focus into the present.
There are two kinds of session:
FIRE - a dynamic, upbeat fusion of yoga, dance and cutting edge tunes
FLOW - vinyasa flow & yin yoga to a soundtrack of uplifting beats and soothing sounds
Each experience evolves over two hours. Angel guides the yoga and movement. Matt creates the soundtrack. Both sessions start with breathing and getting centred - whatever has happened in your day, wherever you have come from, this is a chance to relax and slow down. We then take you through a series of moves to activate the body, stretching and creating warmth.
The FLOW session peaks with a series of vinyasa sequences, while the FIRE session peaks with an exploration of dance. Both sessions wind down with gentle yin poses and meditation.
For certain special events, we also run a RAVE edition of the Future Sound of Yoga, where the focus is on dancing - check out these videos at the Splendour and the Peats Ridge Festivals to see what this session looks like: videos.
